USC-Lancaster's Soccer Programs to Hold ClinicThe USC-Lancaster Soccer Programs will hold a clinic on March 22, 2014 at the Lancers' soccer field located on campus. Lancers Finish Pepsi Tournament With Three Wins
The Lancers Baseball Program finished up with three wins in the Pepsi Tournament in Florence, South Carolina. The Lancers played Potomac State College of West Virginia in the first game on Sunday. The Lancers lost a heart breaker to them by a score of one to zero. Austin Hill pitched the whole game while giving up five hits and fanning five batters. The lone run was scored on a sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning. The Lancers had three hits off of the bats of Tommy Winterstein, Jordan Williams, and Zach Callahan. Lancers Take Two on the First Day of the Pepsi Tournament
The USC-Lancaster Lancers Baseball Team traveled to Florence, South Carolina to play in the Pepsi Tournament hosted by Florence-Darlington Technical College. The games were played at Francis Marion University. The Lancers faced Cecil College from Maryland in the first game. The Lancers came out strong as they defeated Cecil College seven to zero. The Lancers were led at the plate by Zach Callahan, Jordan Williams, Ranz Bodison, and Austin Hill. Callahan, Williams, and Bodison had doubles which plated three runs. Austin chipped in a single which gave him a run batted in. Hill also stole a base. Tad Martin stole two bases and Bryan Dye added a run batted in. The starting pitcher for the Lancers was Chris Stewart. Chris pitched five and a half solid innings while fanning two and scattering three hits. Bryan Drager came in to finish the game and struck out two batters. Read more.
Lancers Baseball Defeats Newberry College Junior VarsityThe Lancers Baseball Team proved too much for the Newberry College Junior Varsity as they defeated the Wolves 14 to 2 in a nine inning game on Wednesday. The game was highlighted by great pitching and hitting by the Lancers. The Lancers started Matthew Justice on the mound. He went two innings as he picked up his second win of the spring season. He was supported on the mound by Lancers pitchers Tommy Winterstein, Ricky Lewis, Kyle Nyenhuis, Sam Pruitt, Eric Yost, and Nathan Elliott. The guys pitched well throughout the game while striking out seven Wolves batters, and holding the visiting team to two hits. The Lancers' bats came alive in the second inning as they scored five runs and also scored seven runs in the third inning. Tad Martin and Ranz Bodison each had two hits a piece. Wade Arduini tallied two hits including a double and Austin Hill provided a double and scored two runs. Zach Callahan continued great hitting this spring as he added two hits, one which was a double. Sophomore catcher Jordan Williams drove in two runs on two hits and Bryan Dye drove in three runs, while also smashing a two run homerun to right field, which was his first collegiate homerun. Jonah Crenshaw tallied a hit that drove in two Lancers runs. The Lancers hit the road this weekend as they play in the Pepsi Tournament which is being held at Francis Marion University. The Lancers face Cecil Community College at 12:00 and Georgia Highland College at 2:30 on Saturday. On Sunday the guys face Potomac State at 2:00 and Muskegon College at 4:30. Read more.
