Game 1 Review

Game 1 The Lancers wasted little time on Sunday afternoon, in getting on the scoreboard, Brantley Rumford lead off the game with a solo home run on the first pitch of the game. Jared Huffman would follow 2 batters later with another solo shot. Casey Cooper would extend the inning by reaching on an infield error, Julian Steen would single and Jordan Williams would follow that with an RBI single. In the 2nd Randy Luckett and Kyle Towles would double, with Towles would pick up a RBI.

During the third, with the Lancer up 4-0, the bats would come alive again. USC-L would score 3 more runs on a single by Zack Rollings, pinch hitting for Williams, a walk to Murphy and back to back doubles by Luckett and Rumford would plate 3 more runs, giving USC-L a 7-0 lead after 3 innings. Casey Cooper, on the mound for the Lancer would hold Lake Land in check at the plate for five innings. He gave up 3 hits, 2 walks, 5 strikeouts and no runs. He was relieved by Kyle Downs, who pitched 2 innings and gave up 1 hit, 2 walks , 1 strikeout , and no runs. The Lancers would close out the scoring in the 4th, with a single by Huffman and a 2-run homer by Casey Cooper. On the day the Lancers would bang out 14 hits, with Rumford going 2-5 with 3 RBI’s, Huffman was 3-5 with an RBI, and Cooper, Pound Towels, Williams, Rollings each collecting singles.
