Lancers sweep Knights, go to 8-0

The University of South Carolina Lancaster Lancers improved to 8-0 with a sweep of Danville Community College over the weekend.

The Lancers captured an 8-3 win over the Knights as Dylan Parker, 3-0, was the winner in six innings of work. He fanned five and allowed no walks, seven hits and two earned runs. Ben Keane hurled one frame and allowed two hits.

Kyle Downs went two innings and gave up a run, three hits and a walk. He fanned one.

Jordan Williams led the Lancers’ offense with three hits and drove in four runs. Williams’ day at the plate included a single, double and a three-run home run. Julian Steen supplied three hits and drove in two runs.

Jared Huffman drilled three hits. Kyle Towles tallied a single, double and drove in two runs.

Blake Outlaw also supplied two hits.

Randy Luckett and Jacob Murphy each posted a hit.

In game two, the Lancers notched a 4-1 win over the Knights.

Stuart Pound, 2-0, worked four innings and notched nine strikeouts. He allowed no runs, two walks and two hits.

John McClure went two frames and yielded an earned run, three hits and three walks. He whiffed one.

Travis Shelley pitched an inning, notching a strikeout.

Byron Haag rapped two hits, including a two-run home run in the sixth inning for a 3-1 Lancers’ lead.

Jacob Murphy ripped a triple and Kal Davis had a double. Tyler Rodgers, Casey Cooper and Kyle Towles each had a hit and Jordan Williams drove in a run.

 The Lancers face Lake Land Community College at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Lancaster High baseball field. The Lancers travel to Newberry for a twin bill on Sunday at 1 p.m.
